WHAT IS TAEKWONDO?
Taekwondo (also Tae Kwon Do), meaning “The Art of Hand and Foot” is a powerful self-defence art which developed in ancient Korea. This sport is known for having a wide range of strong kicks, blocks and hand strikes. Taekwondo moves extend and rotate the whole body to launch fast, whip-like attacks. In Taekwondo you train to develop mental fortitude and confrontational skills as well as fitness and fighting technique.
The NZ Taekwondo Federation's mission is to teach the art of Taekwondo and instil in their students the confidence to face any challenge head on. One of their goals is to build an internationally competitive team here in Rotorua.
“Taekwondo is a sport where you don't just learn to kick and punch, but also to confront things and people you couldn't before.”
